Over the next year or so we may be looking to get a RR. Budget £2.5-5k. Anyone got any advice between a p38 or an early L322. Both have there pros and cons but I’m not sure whether it would be better to get a well sorted p38 or a slightly more ropey L322.

Thanks

Tom

I would say for that money go for a p38. I got mine for £1550 I have had to spend close to £1000 on it to make it right but it’s a great car to drive and simple to work on. Parts are cheap too. Be careful buying any at this price if you are not prepared to work on it yourself.

I had a L322 on a 56 plate before and the problems were much more technical. Parts more expensive and cost me 10x as much to buy. I would consider a 07-12 plate 3.6tdi or 4.4tdi if I had the cash tho.

I would love to spend more on an L322 but just can’t justify it at the moment as it will be a weekend car as both the girlfriend and I have company cars. Interesting about spending a grand or so to get the p38 right. I’m ok with the spanner’s so can deal with easy to moderate things. Hmmm every model of LR has their pros and cons.... it’s a hard choice!!
