Completely torn between these 2. Prefer the size of the discovery but worried about high mileage (150k+)
Should I be worried? Anything major to think about?
Don't mind niggly things which I can sort myself.

Cheers

How handy are you with the spanners? If you want fuss free, I would go Jeep GC. Those Merc engines are pretty nice and more powerful than the D3 unit.

The D3 is bigger, more handsome and has the green oval pedigree. However, at £5k, I can almost guarantee you will see some issues. Just a few listed below:

Cold starting issues (glowplugs and Fuel Burning Heater)
Torque Converter will probabaly be knackered (Take it on a test drive and look for fluctuating revs at motorway speeds or a rumbling under acceleration)
Suspension issues (Lots of sensors, but as they get older you see more issues with wiring and they can be harder to trace)
Parking Sensors (The wiring breaks and people replace the sensors because that is what the diagnostics has told them to do)
Boot release fail, but that is cheap as chips to replace (Its a ford focus part)

The stereo is very restrictive in what you can do with it and bluetooth streaming wasn't supported until 2012.

Engines do let go, but I personally think that is fairly rare.
