Sorry for dumb question but are brake pads standard items or is there a risk of getting the wrong ones if we go for non-landrover parts. 1996 defender 90 and 2014 defender 110. Cheers

There are cheap ste parts, and there are reputable brands. Usually, the price is a reasonable indicator as to what's abysmal. Known braking system brands are unlikely to be terrible, while LR-specific brands may well vary. LR-branded will be extortionate.

I would go Mintex. No way would I go for LR's own pads. LR won't make them anyway!

I tend to use Mintex or Ferodo and never had issues with either of them. Genuine LR are overpriced and didn't last any longer on our works 110s

Hi,
I found that Mintex pads on the rear of my 110" squealed and didn't get any better with or without the shims. No amount of disc cleaning or pad swapping made it quieter.

I changed to Bearmach pads on the recommendation of the garage I use and no further problems. They fit this brand to fleet vehicles which they service.
