Hi,

Bought a new battery for the defender - its slightly more powerful but not hugely so.

However, one of the 2 optional front fog lights i have on it then randomly comes on.

Have disconnected as don't want it to come on at night and drain the battery.

Why is it doing this / how to fix?

thanks

That's an odd one, can't see it being the new battery. I'm not sure how your spots are wired, but if they have a separate relay each, it could be the relay for that light at fault perhaps?

There's no way a "more powerful" battery can cause a light to come on.

You say these fogs (front or rear?) are "optional" - factory-fit, or aftermarket? How're they wired?

Most likely suspect is a dicky relay. Multimeter time.

Dave.

Are they LED fog lamps?

The battery is not exactly more powerful. All automotive batteries are 12v. You have just bought one with a bigger capacity.

This won’t cause the fault. I’m also not familiar with factory front fogs. Best thing is to check how they are wired in. Should be pretty easy and very basic for any Defender owner to do. Failing that you’ll need an automotive electrician to help if you aren’t confident.
