Last night my wife was going out in her 2019 discovery sport, the car had 30 miles of range left so i I went to top it up with a Jerry can, however I couldn’t get any in as there a device in the filler.

How do I get round this in the future? She’s got a habit of not filling up until last minute so it’s likely to happen again.

There should be one of those in the tool kit.

She will only run out of fuel once, after that she will keep it topped up.

Well you’d think that but she seems keen on fuel light bingo, not so bad when we lived in suburbia about 1/4 miles from a petrol station but now we’re in the country so planning ahead is needed.

I’ll have a look in the toolkit, thanks for the info

I think the tool is only an orange sort of spatula, you could probably remove it with a chop stick

I have a diesel LR DS too...no such tool in my toolkit. Mine is the 2015 model so maybe too early for this problem to have arisen and a tool required.

The thing in the filler looked like stainless steel and was there when I opened the cap rather than something extra that’s popped down.
Maybe a different version of the same thing.

Obviously the best option is to convince my wife to fill up at 1/4 tank but that’s unlikely to happen.
