Land-Rover wins Dakar
Discussion
No, not the Defender with it's massive budget and very few competitors in it's class, instead this is the Series 3 109" station wagon of Karolis Raisys and Christophe Marques. They were competing against vehicles ranging from Porsche 959 & 911, Toyota's, Lada and many others. To finish first as privateers with a budget which is probably drawfed by the factory team's catering expenses is an exceptional achievement.
Well done Ovoko racing!

The timeout racing channel is worth watching too. It's unfortunate that the ASO sanctioned coverage is limited to ten minutes, contrast that with darts for instance....
The trucks are very impressive and the motorcyclists exceptionally brave when you look at some of the accidents.
I love watching vids on the Dakar bikes. I find the engineering fascinating. Rear tanks, nav towers, road books, warning systems. Lyndon Foskett does a good walk through on his old his old 660cc 'Basil' bike. I'm seriously impressed how the riders manage to ride at 10/10ths whilst still moving the road bike. I believe they have inly just gone digital with the road books tooThe trucks are very impressive and the motorcyclists exceptionally brave when you look at some of the accidents.
Even Boreman's old Race To Dakar series is still a good watch now....especially when you consider the effort involved in getting that X5 into a state where it could manage the course.
