Freelander 2 goes on sale
You get a lot of motor for your money
The all-new Freelander 2 goes on sale in the UK next week, and is now available with a range of accessories.
Land Rover has introduced an Audio Connectivity Module for music lovers, to integrate an iPod Nano, iPod 30 +60GB and iPod Photo (version 4), using the steering wheel controls for track selection and volume, with a neat cradle for the iPod positioned to the left of the dashboard controls. The auxiliary connection, fitted as standard, also allows analogue input from other personal music player devices.
You can also add a rear screen entertainment system with wireless headsets. Comprising a pair of 5.6-inch LCD screens in the rear headrests, it will allow most portable audio video devices to be connected, including portable DVD players and iPods.
Also announced this week, the following insurance groups have been announced, which show the Freelander 2 to be competitive against its key rivals such as the BMW X3:

The Freelander 2 will be in showrooms across the country from 7 December 2006, and comes with either a 2.2 litre turbocharged diesel or 3.2 litre straight-six petrol engine from £20,935 – including CO2 off-set for the first 45,000 miles.
I have a 2.2TDCi Mondeo ST and it just needed £2,000.00 worth of work because the Delphi fuel pump used sucks large elephant penis.
If it's from the same place or uses the same fuel pump, they can shove the F2 up their Ford ownership.

The 2.2 in this is the Ford/PSA DW12 engine (with a Bosch pump I believe), the one in the Mondeo is the Puma engine that is going to be Transit and other commercial vehicles only.
I'm sorry to hear about the fuel-pump problem, I hope it was replaced under warranty. I know it's no consolation to you but the Puma engine has gone into well over a million of Mondeos, 'X'types and Transits and any failure is usually down to a stupid unfortunate mishap in assembly or servicing etc rather than design.
But, have to say - £30k for the HSE diesel model - thats a bit steep isnt it? Crikey, thats a lot of money for a 4 cylinder mid-sized family oversized hatch! Even for the soft-roader market it might just be too much. You can get a lot for £30k - imagine a second hand X3 / X5 - not the same thing, but you get the idea....
...and thats before extras..... cripes....
