My Dad wants to change our current first gen. Freelander V6 for either the Freelander 2 straight 6 or Range Rover Sport 4.2.

I was just wondering if anyone can tell me figures for ground clearance of the Range Rover Sport, the first generation Freelander and the new Freelander 2.
I know (from experience the 1st gen. Freelander is shockingly bad off road (I ground it out and got it stuck on a Salt Marsh in the summer - a friend in his trusty Defender towed me out!). The salesman spiel is that the Freelander 2 is alot better, although still not "Range Rover" good off road. How does the RR Sport compare?

Thanks,

Darren

Range Rover sport is very good off road. Same spec as disco 3 but shorter so has the potential to be even better. The Freelander 1 is very capable on slippy surfaces but will struggle in ruts. Freelander 2 will be better off road as all its figures are better and it has a derivative of terrain response.

RRS ground clearnace listed by LR as 227mm Wading depth 700mm
Freelander 2 figures I cant find but dont think they are as good as the RRS. Guess wasing depth is 500mm but not sure about clearance.
