Hi - I have heard that this is an 'Achilles heel' on Discos - my '96 V8 ES has a very leaky rear sunroof. The water pours out of the plastic switch housing in the headlining when moving off after heavy rain - and it lands on the rear seat.. 'daddy it's raining in the car'

Anyone know where the leak is likely to be from? Possibly a blocked drain hole?

Thx in advance..

I believe there are internal gutters that fun through a pipe under the head lining. You need to dismantle and unblock/check route.

I bought one without sunroofs...no problem..

Possibly of no real help, but you've had no more sensible replies so...my '98 R plate has no sunroofs, so no problem...my 91 200Tdi has 2 off, but both siliconed shut - so again no problem!!! Apparently it is a common problem!

Hi Cpas - I have figured the same thing out - my front sunroof still works and is watertight (amazing!) and I have now treated the rear one (which was leaking lots) to a good slathering of black silicone sealer. Now it's set, I have no more leaks! One of the folks at my local 4x4 club suggested putting 'no more nails' round the seal, closing the roof for the last time and putting a heavy object on the glass for a couple of hours!

Thanks for the reply.

PS some friends with an '04 Disco 2 have a leaky front roof already!! - but they have a factory warranty too.................

Oh, that's soooo sad.. Good on you for buying British, but what a frustration that something so fundamental as stopping water coming in the roof of the vehicle isn't sorted... I noticed on our friends D2 that the roof is the same as our D1...

Cheers for the suggestion, once I have worked my way through the more important niggles, (and in the summer )I will pull the silicone out and have a proper go at repair!
