Hi guys,

My 2003 90 TD5 is going in to have some warranty work carried out on it and what i want to know is what other warranty issues are out there. So I can get the dealer to inspect them or fix them while she is with them to maximise the benifit of my Land Rover Extended Warranty....

all suggestions welcome

Didn't the td5 get recalled on the oil leak that shorted out the computer? I'll txt my oldman and see if he knows of any more issues.

Play in the steering adjusted and new gearbox fitted at 4k miles on a 2006 TD5 XS. Just discoverd the key does'nt fit the drivers door so it will be going in for that soon. Other than that so far so good.

...just to elaborate on the oil pump issue.

This may well not happen for you - so don't worry as such.

But just be aware for if ever your oil light does come on. The usual is to pull over, check oil level, see that it's 'Full' - and then carry on driving >>> WRITES ENGINE OFF, PRETTY-MUCH!

The bolt for the oil pump has been known to come loose, on account of a period of manufacture when they didn't use threadlock on it. I don't know when this period was.

So - the bolt comes loose - your pump stops pumping - and the engine has no oil flowing - although the sump is still full.

So that's it - if ever your oil light comes on, as with any car - stop driving immediately - and get it taken to a garage. It's the difference between tightening that bolt - or writing off your engine!

Good luck - lovely vehicle!!

Other than the bolt recall there have been no serious recalls. Straight from the dealers mouth.

I'd been dreading the ownership experience - given all the scare-stories over the TD5.

However - when you speak to people who actually work on and know the engines - they only ever seem to speak highly of them, overall.

Teething issues during the start created much of the bad reputation.
