Ok ... following on from my diagnosis thread in GG over the weekend ...

Seems that my engine problem is Glow Plugs (either the fuse to make them glow, or the plugs themselves)

Was thinking of possibly doing a DIY job just for sake of interest but see that my first port of call for such a task - Haynes Manuals - does not yet exist for the P38 Rangie!

Does anyone have a link to some simple instructions for this task (with pictures would be great) and any special tools i will need

its on a 2000 year P38 DSE (the BMW 2.5 Oilburner)

I have the usual tools, socket set, full range of calibration tools, spanners and screw drivers etc.

Cheers.

Bit of applied logic here.
There is a glow plug for each cylinder and the likelihood of them all being duff is very low so if there is power to them then feel which ones are getting hot. If none, then it is fuse or ecu related.

Agreed, however having owned some of the most cantankerous vehicles known to man i have learnt that if i replace only one of a series of 6 (or 12) that within a week, another one will go ...

based on this i tend to try and offset Sod, Murphy and their mates by replacing all.

doesn't always work mind.....
