last night i lost all gears in the landy.
managed to get the car going again by finding a gear, but nothing was where you would expect it to be as the gear stick was all wobbly. could get third but couldnt find anything else. then when driving along in third the gearstick was still all wobbly.
the clutch appears to be engaging and disengaging ok, but beyond that i cant say much more as it was freezing, dark and i had been up for pretty much 2 days straight so just wanted to go home to bed.
anyone got any ideas?
thanks again, sorry to continue to clog up the boards with my jinxed landy. who knew that my two much older ones would be massivley more reliable? crazy.

Tricky one to diagnose. I suspect something has broken or become loose at the base of the gear lever. You'll need to whip the top off the transmission tunnel to get to the top of the gearbox and gain access to the base of the lever. Then check that the lever is attached properly to the little stub that sticks out of the gearbox. If this is all fine, then you need to remove the top of the linkage housing and see whats going on inside.

You need to rip the tunnel mat out and remove the top gator to have a look inside the top of the gear change. I'm behind the wrong PC at the moment so I can't check to see what type of linkage the R380 box has, if it's the same as the disco one I'd hazard a quess(I'm normally wrong on these things

hi mate sorry to here of your on going problems. had this problem on a series III about a month ago. ended up taking off the gaitor off the gear lever and removing the gear stick. turned out to be a small grub screw had come lose and fallen out creating a lot of slop. similar problem could get gears but your guess was as good as mine which one you got and where you got them. happened whilst we were off road at the time.
