Does anyone run a P38 Range Rover with either Bilstein HD shocks or Koni shocks?
I need to replace mine and wondered which offer the best performance.
The Bilsteins are a fair bit cheaper and I know their build quality and performance is generally beyond reproach but the same applies to Koni. Does one give any advantage over the other in real terms? The vehicle is predominantly used for road use with an occasional foray into the wild and unknown. I have also replaced the original air suspension units with Arnott Stage 3 air springs.

For fast road go koni. Have them on mine. 10 stage adjustable. You can really stiffen her up. But fopr normal use with some off-road go for the cheaper option.
Consider old man emu aswell.

Hi,

I can only comment on the Koni option as I fitted these to my P38 around a year ago. Mine have 4 settings and I have them on the 2nd softest setting though this is still far far stiffer than the standard shocks. I've made three significant mods to my P38 and until recently this had made the biggest difference to the car: far less body roll, more comfortable and instills far more confidence. I bought mine from Camberly Auto Factors in Swindon:

I then uprated the brakes and late last year had to replace the engine (failure due to porous block issue!) I now have a 5.3ltr V8 Developments engine that has done around 2,500 faultless miles - this engine is truely awesome though at a cost of £8.9k so it should be.

Put Konis on my P38 last year and the difference is very noticable. Far less body roll and mpg improved as I don't need to slow down for the corners so much. Also tows much better. Got mine from Froggs Island 4x4 in Oxfordshire.

Thanks for the replies. Useful information.
It sounds like the Konis are the best bet, though they doo seem a little overpriced in the UK. I can't help but wonder why a set of Konis costs £290 in the UK and £175 in the USA!
