I'm trying to rationalise my cars and would like a convertible (for those nice days, and with 4 seats to replace the MX5) and an off roader (to replace my knackered Disco which the wife doesn't like driving). The question is can I get a 90 with a convertible (so you're just left with the front screen and side windows), and how easy is it to put down and up (as opposed to Series convertibles with sticks and canvas)? What sort of price would I be looking at?

I'm pretty sure Nene Overland do a Bikini top. Check out their website.

Actually, any Defender is a convertible by virtue of a couple of bolts biglaugh

Yep i put a soft top on my truck cab a couple of summers ago. Quite a few people do them in many different guises. Nene overland, exmoor trim, scorpion racing and others. Easy job to do. Just un bolt your roof/side pannels and your done!

There are loads of companies who do convertable conversions. Or, if you want one just like you said, it could be a ex-military one, However most of these are the stick jobs.
