Seeing as Ted has created this forum I thought it might be nice to show everyone my Land Rover!

www.pistonheads.com/members/showcar.asp?carId=3925

The photo shows what it looked like when I got it. I took the body off and rebuilt it, and welded a few bits of the chassis. It was also resprayed in Rover Metallic Blue and I don't think I did a bad job for a first attempt even if it took a fortune in paint!

I'm thinking about getting a soft-top untill I can afford another TVR or similar.

Here's a pic of my everyday (only car at the moment) car.

finished building mine in Aug last year.
was a simple D£i$l (yuk) S2a, but then the problems began... rusty chassis... one rebuild, got nicked & rolled... build 2, gearbox blew... build 3 (got given a 3.5v8 & g'box), newish chassis couldn't take the power! (yum cart springs!) so build 4... coils & disc brakes, blew 3.5 (a couple of times!!!) now got a 3.9EFI with chaindrive auto (very smooth!) & with a couple of hours at powerstation in cheltenham got near 200bhp & eats most boy-racers. problem is only does 10mpg! so... on withthe next project!

The Scooby boys have always been very complementary about their suspension setups.

Just a thought on your insurance worries for your tow car... do you actually have to be insured on the tow car or can those duties be done by parents etc? That was you could maybe get a cheaper to insure car?

heres mine also had an 86" Series one, a SeriesIII and a Leight weight. I'm also helping a mate do up a leight weight at the minite, as well as looking after a 3.5 EFI 80" for another mate

mainly jap stuff (as is the norm now) but they have a 4wd rolling road & the bosses love the old rv8. one of them is building another mk1 v8 escort rally car. their rates are pretty good, & you can wait around while they do all the stuff...
