Land rover Defender purchase advice needed please

i am thinking of getting a Landrover Defender 110 as a daily driver for my buisness. i would appreciate any advice on what to look for / what to aviod. i have got a budget of around £3000- it looks like this would probably get a 2.5 TD ? are they normally reliable ? any advice would be thankfully recieved.

Best bet would be TDI realistically, anything else will dog slow.

Much as I love my landy it's not great on road, and it's a 300 Tdi...
