The Defender's 200tdi is running hot at the moment and the radiator is cold and there is plenty of coolant in the system. The top pipe that leads to the thermostat is hot, but the bottom left of the rad is stone cold. It os a new radiator so wouldn't (shouldn't) be blocked.

Any ideas guys??
Thanks

Sounds like thermostat and/or water pump. Take the thermostat out completely and try it, if it still is the same then take the water pump off and see if its corroded and not doing its job.

My money's on the thermostat, make sure you get a defender 200tdi one and not the disco one.

Yep, we whipped out the thermostat and now it's running at a lower temp and the rad is warm, which is expected. Will get another one tomorrow and hopefully that will do the trick.

cheers thumbup

Hi Julia,

Ron ere from the LR club....

Sounds like it was defo the thermostat, i tend to drill a small hole in any thermostat these days, it helps when filling with coolant, and should stop you getting an airlock at the stat.....

Hope to see you/Marcus/ the truck soon!!!
