rear diff oil additive
Discussion
Are you sure that it is the rear differential that is whining? Occasionally high-frequency sounds can propagate along various chassis components to "emerge" a long way from their source.
If it is the rear differential then the best cure is to get a service exchange - all an additive will do is mask the cause, not rectify it.

I agree about noise tracking, i thought it was my rear diff whining(130k miles) But when i had to go a spare tyre(16in) on the front, the whine almost went completely, other side is 18in. Can only imagine the slight difference in size made the diff act differently. Now back with 18in again and the whine has come back, really annoying !
