is there an additive/oil I can put in my rear diff, it`s starting to whine alittle bit, not bad, but noticable. It`a P38 dhse

Are you sure that it is the rear differential that is whining? Occasionally high-frequency sounds can propagate along various chassis components to "emerge" a long way from their source.

If it is the rear differential then the best cure is to get a service exchange - all an additive will do is mask the cause, not rectify it.

I agree about noise tracking, i thought it was my rear diff whining(130k miles) But when i had to go a spare tyre(16in) on the front, the whine almost went completely, other side is 18in. Can only imagine the slight difference in size made the diff act differently. Now back with 18in again and the whine has come back, really annoying !

Only going by what I was told by my specialist garage, that i use for servicing. They said it was`nt bad enough to warrant changing it yet.

I doubt you can hear the diff whining it's more likely a rear wheel bearing starting to show it's age or as stated earlier a wheel/tyre combo. Don't bother with an additive solve the root of the problem things don't whine unless they need looking at.
