TDi Range Rover
Discussion
Hi,
I am changing jobs soon and need a commuter barge to cover 70 miles a day from Worcester to Warwick (via M5, M42, M40), I could commute in the Bowler but the novelty would wear off pretty quickly - I have been wondering about a TDi Range Rover instead of a car - what sort of MPG figures have PHer's actually got from such a beast?
Would I get a better (more reliable) vehicle if I bought a Range Rover as opposed to a diesel Astra, Peugeot or similar?
My argument is that they are generally easy to repair and parts are easy to source.

You are looking realisticaly at getting between 23-26mpg around town, more on a run.but not as much as a 1.9 SRI Vectra 30-36mpg.The main prolem with working on the L322 is having access to a diagnostics program as there is no workshop manual, every part of the L322 has to be down loaded.Parts are easy to come by but its (LandRover)only im afraid and they arnt cheap.Alternators £590 each! diesal injectors £137 each. These are just two of the items that are now becoming frequent changes on L322,s.Ive got to say,ive been driving a TD6 for some weeks now ans as mentioned in a previous post ive been impressed by its performance. Its not sports car fast as an X5 3.0D(same engine)but it feels just as responsive as my 4.6 P38.At the end of the day its a rich mans car,so you cant really expect budget motoring. The days of getting cheap parts and being able to do a lot of the work yourself like the old classic are long gone.
