Hi me again, 96 Turbo Diesel (BMW) Rangie:is that the one that won't pull the skin off a rice pudding or is that one ok
I'll get to the bottom of this yet..
Considering that or a 94 Disco V8 on LPG

Slow to the point of being dangerous. Will tune fairly well but not really worth the bother unles you're desperate for a manual box.

Hi Tony, if you are considering a 96 R/R it will be the 2.5 turbo diesel from the BMW 3&5 series. If its a manual its reasonable performance but you will need to work it, if its auto it can best be described as relaxed but non the less a nice experience.
It can be chipped which improves things considerably at a cost of around £450 then you can expect a good cruiser.
There are other things to watch out for, namely, air suspension failures, high milers can suffer from poor starting when hot, and, coolant leaks left unchecked can cause head failures.
Still a lot of car for the money.

More reliable then the V8s though apparently. I think the Rangey would suit a manual gearbox, my auto is a right pain at times.
