advice on 1964 land rover
Discussion
Hi
I have been given the first refusal on an ex military land rover... details as follows:
manufactured 1964 (speacial purpose communications vehicle in army)
registered 09/10/74
2286cc petrol
swb 88
just under £60,000 miles.. Always serviced and looked after>>
Being offered to me at around £1500... not sure if this is too much or about right... any advice appreciated.

Depends on teh condition. Age is irrelevant - the state of the chassis, bulkhead and mechanicals are the key factors. I have been given the first refusal on an ex military land rover... details as follows:

Mileage you cant take in to account. Some LR,s would go around the clock. And it may not be on its original engine. As its a FFR (fitted for radio)i would suspect this more so.As as been said check chassis and outer riggers and inside footwells. As its a series 2 then it wouldnt have synchromesh on 1st and 2nd so double de-clutching is required. Some photos would be nice.
My Dad ashd owned it for the last 8 years..
mileage can pretty much be verified on paperwork... it has had the subframe replaced and whenever anything needs doing it is done when it gets serviced..
As far as he is aware it is all sound and I know he would let me know if anything was amis.. Just wondering if it is a fair price really..
