I'm confused about what constitutes a green lane passable by motor vehicle. There are a number of green lanes near where I live that are signposted as byways. Can I legally drive my Land Rover on these?
Yes, byeways are for use by motor vehicles.
just buy an ordanance survey map for your area and they are all marked on there with a green line and little crosses on them.
The recommended method is to get an OS map to study, then go to the council offices to look at the definitive maps to confirm where you're allowed to drive.
