My real question here is knowing the old 2.25 wouldnt pull the skin of a banana is the added strain of an aircon unit really going to make what power it has suffer to any great degree? I can make the aircon pump fit the block easy enuff, some back yard African mechanic made a mercedes alternator fit it and it needs redoing so I will combine both units, my landy is an early 83 model but the nose panel has been pushed right forward as on the early Defender they then slotted in a huge radiator from something big but they retained the standard bonnet which is shorter, will the later bonnet fit?

Funny my heater doesnt work, the fan is a no go and Landy wiring is just shocking, as things die I rewire leaving the original system redundent if I cant remove the wiring easily, I would like a longer bonnet, would improve the looks no end

It is possible to fit AC to your 2 1/4 Land Rover.
If you check the Land Rover websites you will see that there is an aftermarket fitment availble for the Defender sold by a company here in the Midlands.
I know that they did have some a/c pump mounting brackets cause I sold them some.
This system is fitted to the last of the TD5 Defenders and fits under the dash, so it should be easy to adapt it to fit your series 3 without too much effort.
If you want some contact details e mail me.
Cheers
