Greetings.

My wonderful wife has have much wingeing on my part has agreed to let me be a Landrover and specifically a Discovery.

Has any body got any suggestions as to what I need to avoid e.g TDi which blow head gaskets etc.

Dont avoid 200/300 Tdis. The engine is bomb proof if looked after. I've got a 300Tdi in my 110 and its done 183,000 miles. 300 series (late l to r reg) discovery's look better imho.

Lift boot carpet and check floor for rust.
TDi,s normally only do head gaskets if overheated due to lack of water.”P” gasket/split header tank

Personally I prefer the TDi if I am using it off road and It is much easer to modify (oh yes you will it’s a landy)

If you intend to use it as road vehicle/shiny the TD5 is the way to go


ES spec is worth looking out for
