Bit of an oxymoron really, the Defender can be broken into with a wooden lolly stick and a bent nail.

Whats the favoured method of actually retaining said Defender on my own drive ?

Currently fitted with OE alarm and after market steering wheel lock, but Im after some proper peace of mind.

Im no convinced Trackers are the way forward, as then you only get back whats had a good hiding.Would rather not lose it to start with.

TIA

On a TDI the stop is electrically controlled, and needs power for the engine to run.

An additional switch on this circuit would cause the engine to turn over, but not start. I would think most thieves would be aware they were attracting attention but not driving away.

I believe the number of TDI Defender thefts has dropped, as previously most were stripped for bits but with older Discos being given away there isn't much point stealing one anymore.

Mech, have seen those, but like everyone else I want fort knox standard security for the price of a can of beer.

I reckon I'll stick with what Ive got along with a master battery cutout and secondary fuel switch.

I've got a battery isolator hidden away and a Jetlock handbrake lock. I've tried to find info on the Jetlock and can find nothing about it.
It's basically a block of alloy which bolts around your handbrake lever. When you pull the handbrake on the handle slides into a U shaped section and you then push a locking bar which closes the U so that without unlocking the bar you can't release the handbrake.

I'm pretty sure I bought it from Simmonites at Billing one year.

I'm not so sure about the mechlock thingy. But then, having had the clutch fork punch through on the Landrover and spread over the release bearing in the TVR (same LT77 Gearbox) I'm not comfortable with anything which applies continuous pressure to the clutch mechanisms.

IIRC all land rovers pre Td5 can be started by taking a live from the battery to the fuel pump. I use a hefty steering lock and a bit of common sense on where I park it.

RAF ones tendered to be Emmerdale Green. A little bit more covert than the Army wink. If it's IRR Green and has bright red front wings then it's close enough.
