Meet up With Lewis (Lew) in his super Discovery 3 G4 and did a small convoy to out off road day. Some images below:

Had a great day out. Managed to ground the 110 G4 and needed a tow off, but no damage. Lots of mud and grins. Nice doing a convoy back. The Macy D had lots of admiring looks towards the G4's

cool

Well done - next time try to get more than just the tyres dirty and cut off those OAP steps on the side! biggrin

The side steps did get a bit bent after the grounding but were easily jumped back into position!

My winch did not work - aparantly some of the solonoids are not working. it works going out but not back in. Do you know if this is expenssive to repair or if a new winch motor is needed

It's probably lack of use - open up everything, soak with wd40, next day smear with silicon grease and put back together.

Failing that, have a chat with David Bowyer here: http://www.dborc.co.uk/goodwinch/

If its not lack of use, try checking the solenoids. Is it a warn winch? If so dont talk to david bowyer!

it was taken apart by some helpful gents on the off road day who ummed and rrred and said it was 2/3 solonoids not working. Yes it is a WARN winch.

Yes, I should've noticed it was a Warn from your pics! Better speak to www.devon4x4.com instead though if it's the big solenoid you're looking at about £60!

DB is still good for bits and bobs like silicon grease though, which is ideal for water-proofing electrical items!

And he can sell you a better Allbright solenoid as well.

is it something I can fit? ie is it a case of mail order the part, unscrew, pop out, pop in, grease up, screw back and whirlll away?

Seems more plre dsoing them.
Mill services have a good reputation and are quoting £60 to your door. Not a bad price.

Two things to remember when off-roading:

1. Always take the muddy motor pics at the end of the day.

2. Never take anyone elses advice on what your vehicle can do, especially if they don't own one!
