Disco V8 problems
Discussion
Bit hard to tell from your post if it's buggered or not.
Low oil pressure is common on LR V8's that have done lots of miles - has yours?
Could be the oil pump is poorly. Has it got the right oil in it? Old, high mileage V8's often run better with a decent 20W50 than the usual 15W40. Has it had any major work done on it recently?

its one i got for stock to sell on, done 113k, oil looks like its been changed recently and its not black at all, the car runs ok and sounds smooth enough although there is a noise coming from the front but this i think is to do with the exhaust and not the engine.
the only work i can tell thats been done in the not too distant past is an LPG conversion, im hoping its not anything major as i dont really want to break it for spares if it can be avoided.

The Rover V8 tends to need volume of oil being pumped around it rather than rely on oil pressure, so once you're above tickover it probably won't be an issue.
would it be unlikely to destroy the engine if its been driven in normal conditions, im going to do the oil and filter today, as welll as check the sump hopefully this will help it.YamR1V64motion said:

My oil pressure was doing the same and was fixed with new gears in the pump.
Currently about £30 for the bits and dead easy to fit.

i was under the impression the oil pump was a bit of a nightmare of a job on them, where abouts is it located on the Rover V8?.Currently about £30 for the bits and dead easy to fit.

Probably takes less time than it took me to type this.

depends which version of the rv8 you have pre serp its on the side of the front cover, on serpentine its inside the front cover meaning a new front cover. rather than just a set of gears..I think the only pita on the pre serp is making sure they pump is primed.
