300 Tdi fuel pump stop solenoid (URGENT HELP NEEDED!!!)

hello all having a few problems with my tdi and have been told to remove the stop solenoid and check the tip. is the stop solenoid the one on top of the pump which is held in with torx screws with a multi plug on the end of the wiring, or the one down on the back which a size 24mm spanner fits with a single spade connector on? many thanks in advance
