Hi everyone on the LR forum, I'm new to it so please bear with me..

I'm looking to buy a long wheel base Defender 110 and having looked at various "for sale" lists am a tad confused.

> So how come some are 9 seater and others 11/12 - is it purely the difference of whether the rear seats are a pair of folding down seats or a fold down bench seat? and the difference between 11 & 12 is if the front seat is a 3 seater or if it has a cubby box?

> 200tdi & 300tdi - what's the difference?

Also any pointers on buying (where, pitfalls etc etc etc) a Long Wheel base Defender?

I need one as I live in the French Alps and it's either this or a mini bus (Renault Trafic) so to protect my sanity I think I'll have a LR!!

The seating capacity reduced and safety regulations tightened, they are now down to 7 seats but at least they are all forward facing and comfortable.

Yes, the 11 seat has a cubby box rather than centre seat.

One thing to bear in mind is that above a certain number of seats EU wide rules will mean you will have to fit a tachograph. It may be that for the use you have in mind you expect this anyway. I know that this applies to some 110s but can't remember it it kicks in at 9, 10, 11 or 12.
