Hi all.

My classic mini just got written off thanks to a diesel spill at the local tescos, and I am looking for a defender to replace it with biggrin

I have seen a nice 200 Tdi '92 on a J for less than £4k but it is in Bournemouth and although it is close, its a bit far for the time i have available to drive to look at it.

If anyone out there is selling or knows of one going for that kind of money, I would be interested to hear about it.

Needs to be good condition, good chassis, little rust, good baulk head clean interior - preferably not a farm job, wider wheels would be nice as would a lift kit and the usual look good bits but not essestial.
It is going to be a daily car and i need it to be on the road, I can do work to get it sorted if it is essential but I would prefer one ready to go.

Something like this would be nice...

dont buy this one:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/722017.htm

unless, like me, you enjoy wasting peoples time.

nerv: I like your car. It's a bit cheap though, mind me asking what's wrong with it?

tedious chancer: Hello mate,

I am very delighted to see you're interested to buy my car.The vehicle in exellent condition and runs like perfect, It has never been involved in any kind of accident, and it has got no mechanical problems, also it has no outstanding finance as I purchased it outright.Technical inspection and emissions testing is passed and stamped as well.I have worked in UK for the last 1 year and I've purchased the car there. My company wanted me back home, so currently I'm in Italy. I've bring the car home with me. I decided that is better to sell it because it`s still registered in the UK and it`s a right-hand drive car so it`s hard for me to drive it here where all the cars are left-hand drives, and I have to pay a lot of money to register it in this country.I realize that is a cheap price for such a car but my special situation makes me do things that I wouldn't do in normal circumstances. The car have MOT and road tax until next year.
If you have other questions about the car not hesitate to contact me.

Cheers

nerv: what? oh, I see. It does exist though, yes? I like things that exist. If it does exist, can you bring it to my house? Im a bit of a stickler for seeing things before I buy them. I'll wait here while you get the maps out. Then I'll meet you near mine and guide you in. Ok? dont take offense at this, but you read such terrible things on the internet these days about 'scammers' and the like. But Im already confident your not one of them. I can tell by your tone and manly use of 'mate'.

chancer: Hi again,
The car is curently in Italy.I would like to use a shipping company for this deal, the
process is very easy and I have just bought a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and this is why I
know how it works. This company will handle the delivery of the car and also they will
handle all the registration papers. If we will use it you will have 5 days to inspect
the car before you decide to buy it.
I will pay delivery! The delivery time will be around 3-4 days and the car will be
delivered at your home address. In this time you will receive the tracking number of the
transaction so you can use it to check the status on the company website.
Let me explain you the whole process:
First I will need your details, full name and address. As soon as I get the info from
you I will take the car and go to the shipping company to transfer it in their custody.
I will pay all the shipping charges. After the car is in their custody they will send
you a confirmation and also payment instructions. They work as a third party agency and
will hold the payment during the 5 days period for inspection. After the payment is
confirmed to them, they will get the car to your home address and will also give you the
documents of registration and the car will be left in your custody, in this period you
can inspect the car, take it to a service for inspection and drive test it. After the 5
days period is over the shipping company will come to you and if you decided to keep the
car you will transfer the documents on your name and after the car is registered on your
name they will release the payment to me. If you decide not to buy the car they will get
the car back and will send you a full refund of the payment.
Please e-mail me with your decision and also your full name and address!!

Thanks

nerv: oh. but just to confirm, it does exist?

chancer: yes. trust me.

Nerv: ok. that's all I needed.

and so it goes... seriously, who would fall for this? I'll happily keep him going forever, but the sheer amount of mails he must have to send and all this typing cant be worth it, can it? or, am I in the wrong business?

In the meantime, I cant be the only one whose noticed how many scam ads feature on ph nowadays. Im sure it never used to be this bad.

But, dont buy this one smile
