Right then gents, i am going skiing in January and we are driving over (France) obviously snow chains are a must, especially since to get to the hotel involves driving up a very twisty and steep mountain road.
The problem i have is that i have 20" wheels and LR do not do snow chains for the 20's i was told to buy a set of 19" as they do snow chains for them and to just swap the wheels. Which seems a little OTT on a good day, let alone in the thick of a credit crunch.
So what are my options here guys? The road to the hotel really is a twisty steep one and to try it without chains i think is madness, but equally buying a set of wheels is just as mad. Any suggestions?

There are a few places online that do them....

I think some companies even hire them out.

French law states that for some roads you must have snow chains. they must be metal, so snow socks are no good. LR do some LR branded ones for the 20" wheels as the folks have just bought some from the Dealer!
£400 i think (ouch)

Aye, have been caught out before with only snowsocks and a militant gendarme who wanted to burn them. I only have the 19"s on the Rangie, and bought a set last year after hiring repeatedly in times past. Depends how often you're going to do it - hiring was about £30 a time (IIRC, was a while ago) so you had to be doing it several times a year for it to make sense buying.£400 i think (ouch)
