Hi Folks!.I have a 2000 Freelander with rover dsl engine.I noticed a knocking/clunking noise in it recently. It happens when I am reversing with either partial or full lock on.My Mechanic who runs a 97 Discovery says its not the CV joints.Any ideas?.rolleyes

It could be the viscous coupling which can be expensive to repair. If you don't off road the freeby then you can remove the propshaft as a "cheap short term" fix.

yes I agree, our Range Rover LSE had that same problem and it was the viscous coupling, we had a friend replace it.

Our LSE was close to 15 years old when it went.
