The drivers side catalytic converter on my 4yr old, fully warrantied, L322 has suffered a cracked seam on the top of the unit due to the welding. The LR dealer wants £805 to supply & fit a new one. Neither Land Rover approved used warranty, Land Rover or the dealer are interested in stepping up to the plate to assist me.
What's the point in buying a car through the network if the warranty won't cover a manufacturing failure

Try cats direct.I bought one from them last year for the 50th, at a fraction of the price of what LR want to charge.Well made too. What's the point in buying a car through the network if the warranty won't cover a manufacturing failure

Hopefully they can assist, as otherwise I am looking at £300 just for the part.
Well, I took mine to a local independent garage, who took the whole exhaust off, cleaned up the original weld which had split & re-welded it. As good as new for the princely sum of £105. I am a little chuffed to say the least.
The crazy thing is, I am about to chop either the Rangy or my wife's S4 in for a new car & we were strongly considering a RR Supercharged, but after being completely blanked by Land Rover on both the warranty & any good will to help with the cost of the replacement (at the end of the day, it was a welded seam on the top of the Cat which had split, so no way I could have caused it), they have lost a pretty guaranteed sale.
