Mate went to look at a Sport a couple of weeks ago.

I popped into my local LR dealer before Christmas and, with no provocation other than a general chat on a quiet day, and after I had said I was looking at previously cherished, he told me they had just shifted 3 x 58 plate demos for c£50k.

I commented that that sounded a reasonable price and he then said, if you think that's good, we could do you a new on for almost the same price. Given the market has continued dropping heavily for the RR, I would say £50k for a new RR Vogue has to be about right. Also there does seem to be a lot of pre-reg LR's coming into the dealers at the moment so bargains are to be had (relatively speaking because obviously the price correction affects all 2nd hand values as well).

Better experience than me!

I've been into Land Rover three times to look at cars - they've taken my details and lost them twice, don't call me back - even when the exact spec car is sitting on their forecourt - never apologized

This may be the reason that they NEED to do deals!

rant over!

Hi

My experience of LR garages has traditionally also been generally bad, ignorant sales people and over priced cars. This made my surprise all the greater, the salesman could not wait to tell me about the deals and even got a spreadsheet out which detailled how much discount LR were giving, which is then in addition to any discounts from the dealer.

A quick look on Autotrader show 2009 RRS tdv8 starting at £40k and similar 2009 tdv8 RR starting at under £50k. Alternatively, buy a 2008 and save £10k+ at least.

Scarey times for LR (although very tempting to buy i have to say!)

Try a couple of the new car suppliers who post availability of New Rangies in the "Range Rover" part of the classifieds.

Not brand new I grant you but a 58 plate Vogue SE from a main LR dealer for under £50k - presumably with some negotiation on that...
I imagine there are plenty of others out there with even less miles.

Not Stratstone in Cardiff by any chance is it? They did exactly the same thing to me. I took myself and my wallet elsewhere and bought my new TDV8 Vogue SE from a different dealer that could be bothered to call, it cured my frustration completely.

I currently own a Range Rover TDV8 reg Dec 07 (with privacy and DVD system)

I bought it for £41k tax free from new as i serve in Germany but had to keep it for a year because of the tax issue. I spoke to my dealer and he will px it for £32k for a new one costing £37k, but have to then find the 5k difference.

He mention the prices for px's are slowly coming back as they sold all the stocks in December but now don't have any stock to sell so thats why px's are getting better (still shocking)

Then he called me in friday....

If you except £32k as px we can swap it for a demo with 2k on the clock registered Oct 08.

I will probably gain 1k this way so haven't lost any money in this crazy crunch, and then have a truck thats 4 months old with 2k on the clock than at present 14 month old one with 13k

Can anybody help as i believe 31.5k for a 4 month old one with 2k must break even after a year, also i will be the first owner on the V5.

Suggestion comments please

Wonder how much he'd want for the Demo if you were walking in with cash.

What spec is your's - Vogue SE?

Unless I am missing something, this has to be the deal of the century? If I get this right, the dealer is saying give me your car and I will give you the same car which is almost a year newer and less miles with no moolah changing hands? Unless there is a major downside on the new car eg it is yellow with green leather, then you can only be better off, whatever your long term plans for the car.

Are you sure this is right? I cannot believe any delaer swapping a nearly new car for an old car with no money changing hands - there is no benefit to them whatsoever.
Also, LR still have thousands of cars sitting in fields and on runways all over the country, there is no shortage of brand new units so cannot see used values rising.

I wonder if orbtar or anyone else has access to just how many cars LR do actually have in storage on airfields.
