I have a RR S/C on 255/50/20 tyres. All 4 need changing soon. I mainly do motorway miles - 25k+ per annum. I prioritise safety in the wet and refinement (in that order). Any experience/suggestions as there are lots of different tyres at similar prices.

I would stick to what Land Rover stick on them from new. These have tended to made specifically with the type they are used on.

I've used oe spec Goodyear Wranglers HP and Pirelli Scorpion Zeros on mine and prefer the Pirellis. The Goodyears seemed a bit harsher and despite repeated balancing, always shimmied a bit. No discernable difference in grip though.

I've currently got Goodyear Ultragrip winter tyres on for the next few months as the vehicle is in Switzerland, they ride a little smoother than the all season tyres and obviously the grip at this time of year is significantly better.

Mine are 255/55 on 19" wheels though.

19" Wranglers on ours, and while I haven't tried any others for comparison they certainly don't shimmy and at only £100 a corner new (off an eBay trader) I can't argue with the price.

The RRS comes with some sort of Continental road tyres I think as standard; not sure which ones but might be worth considering if road use is the priority and you can get the right size? Although perhaps significantly different grip levels could affect the DSC or ETC calibrations?

I bought a RRS a few weeks ago, and there are Hankooks on it...

I'll check tomorrow which ones exactly, but they're not bad at all. Maybe I'll talk different tomorrow, then I'll be driving them in the snow wink

Hankook Ventus, that's what's on my car. Drove them in the snow yesterday, and they were quite ok there too...

Hi Paul,

I bought them from glp.automotive on eBay but having just checked they don't appear to have any more (at the moment); they had several sets when I bought mine from them so might be worth asking.

Best wishes,

Ruari
