Thinking about buying something like this, but want to know if I will be able to put a hard top of some sort on it when I return to Europe... Any ideas how easy / chep it would be to get a lid for it???

Very easy - Side panels and roofs are up for sale all the time... I would reckon you could pick up all you need for around £50. The roll bar would have to go though...

Bummer, I'd wanted this to be easily reversible.

I'm still waiting to actually get a look at this in the metal, and will probably have a load more daft questions after I've seen it.
