Hi there.
My 1991 Defender 200TDi lost all its power steering fluid whilst at Avon Dassett on Sunday (yippeee - the wife's still screaming!!!) and it seems to be the box that's leaking. The Haynes Manual says it's a main dealer job to repair it but most parts suppliers sell seal kits. has anyone repaired theres and how difficult is it. I'm reluctant to replace it as there's very little play in the steering.
Thanks to you all

Chris.

i had mine replaced a mere 2 days ago. you can get one for 175quid new, and apparently it takes 1.4 hours labour to fix (warranlty claim pending...)

i believe the box is quite easy on the disco but i have never done one. i'm also pretty sure you can get a cheap seal kit. try leamoco or mcr they tend to have a good array of spares. i was at avon dasset on sunday with a friend driving a yellow defender series 2 hybrid and we put a training arm out the drive home was interesting to say the least.
