There was a recall at christmas, something to do with the pre-heater spontainiously combusting, plus the fuel economy is rubbish, I'm getting circa 25mpg, I was getting 33 before it's first service but the dealer basically told me I was telling porkies. Other than that it's a nice car

Sale fell through ... it was in a pretty shoddy way for a 12month old car - they were asking 22k for HSE manual at main dealer - damage to front and rear bumbers, scarched wing mirrors, 4 parking dents, scuffs all round... not happy....

If anyone know of one please PM me....

would they not have put it right for you if it was a main dealer?

Interestingly, we bought an 08 Freelander 2 in Stornoway Grey back in January from a dealer.

Car had a couple of minor scuffs on rear bumper and these were put right before collection, the dealer was great and any marks were rectified and the car was displayed in their showroom upon collection.

Ours is an XS with full winter pack and 19" wheels option (closer to an SE than an XS really), got it for just under £17k, was advertised at £18.5k.

At the time, the salesman contragulated us on buying at the perfect time and suggested that prices would rise in the next couple of months. I laughed it off then, but upon reading your post and doing a bit of searching, he may well have been right! Even with another 5k miles, our car may well not have depreciated in the last few months. smile

I think you are right - you did but at the right time.

I should have taken the '57 plate SE I was offered 4 months ago for 17.5k ! Rather than the 19k or so they are now at.

The dealer involved did offer to rectify the lumps and bumps - but what got me was that they described it as in excellent condition - I challenged them at the time to find another vehicle of any age (let along < 1 yr old) that was in a similar condition on their forecourt - they failed.

Would not have wanted the car even if they had tarted it up etc - the underside showed heavy off-road use.....

Am now considering Volvo XC60 as alternative as you can get one with 5.5k off which brings a new SE Lux spec to within 10% of a 1yr HSE freelander
