Shortly to be RR owner - a few questions
Discussion
I'm shortly getting a Range Rover Vogue and just had a few questions I wonder if current owners could assist with :
Can I fit a child seat into the front passenger seat - how do you switch off airbags ?
What's the best way to connect an IPOD into the Stereo system ?
Bike Racks - anyone use a roof system, or do you find an alternative better (based on the fact I'll need a ladder to get to them !)
All info appreciated,
cheers,
Rob.

ipod - we fitted the Dension kit, replaces the cd changer & uses the changers controls via the s/wheel or head unit, can sort through playlists / artists / single songs / genres etc, easy to fit, cheap & good quality too. you can hide cradle in glove box if need be.Can I fit a child seat into the front passenger seat - how do you switch off airbags ?

Sounds good but the Dension Kit seems to be discontinued??PhilCerbera said:

Sounds good but the Dension Kit seems to be discontinued??According to the instructions on my daughter's new forward facing child seat, it can be used with airbags in the front. The rear facing seat was definitely not supposed to be used with an airbag.
In either case, I wouldn't put the seat in the front of my RR since it fits better in the back. There's plenty of space for a rear facing seat to fit in the back, although the seat belts were only JUST long enough on mine.
Bikes are better on the back. I tried using the roof rack on mine for carrying some ply sheets, and since I'm not 7'6" tall, I struggled...
And I have no sensible answer to the Ipod thing, but I would very much like to know the answer myself because I hate carrying around piles of cds!

I had the Land Rover ipod kit installed. It's pricey but seems to work well. You can still use the CD changer(there is a switch in the glovebox) and it charges the ipod.
Only issue is that you can't select songs using the ipod. So I have to unplug the ipod and then select a track before plugging it back in again.
Re the child seat, as far as I know, you can only use it in the back. Annoyingly you can't use it in the middle, so with a full car, someone has to get the middle seat rather than the infinitely more comfortable outer seats.

It is in fact by a company called 'Dice'
It is listed as a BMW product but it is this one I fitted, http://www.incaripod.com/Brand/DICE_Electronics/Di... questioned the BMW bit when it arrived but was told it was the same system as in the RR as it was made by BMW at this time (04), low & behold all the wiring was as described, plugged in & it worked straight away, I bought the cradle to go with it http://www.incaripod.com/Brand/DICE_Electronics/DI... but chucked the mounting brackets and just used double sided tape to stick to the flat part of the dash.
They seem to do additional makes now so maybe one of them is worth a go as they do actually list the RR as an application? ITD

Thanks. Mines a late 05 so unfortunately doesn't appear compatible with the DICE ipod interface systems. I'll have to keep searching....

The only alternative I've come across at £199 is here. It doesn't use the LR AV controls but does display and have a remote control - a bit of a compromise but not ideal:
http://www.nav.tv/products/vehicledock-ipod?car=25...
Anyone used it?
