RRS Supercharged.

Hi all,need some advise,looking to get my wife a Supercharged Sport as have expanding family,anything tp look out for.Looking to spend somewhere in the region of 30K,Have always been Merc people but fancy a change,as the ML doesn,t realy float my boat so to speak.Have seen a nice 55 Plate on autotrader with only 10k on the clock,all the toys.Any advise?
I recommend going to a Land Rover dealer... Prices are not much different to Autotrader ones and you get the full warranty for the first year - including MoT Insurance, Euro breakdown cover, etc... You might be lucky, but most people seem to get value from the warranty 
There are a few 06 cars on the Land Rover used car locator at £30k or thereabouts at the moment. Supercharged cars have pretty much everything standard except towing equipment, sunroof, and rear seat entertainment (DVD).
Great cars though - and I'm guessing from your username that you are used to sub-20 mpg figures

Having owned one for a while, expect 14mpg in the real world, they are good, but not still an off road car compared to ML's, X5's and Porsches. Does depend what you're looking for and they are small for a 'big' 4x4 inside. Stereo, bluetooth and satnav are dire compared to the german cars out there.

Please tell me you're kidding? The RRS will outperform an X5 and ML in the mud quite easily and I'd expect it to hold its own with the Porsche as well. The RRS is remarkably capable off-road - the only thing that lets it down is some of the sportier trim which is somewhat vulnerable.wiffmaster said:

The RRS is remarkably capable off-road - the only thing that lets it down is some of the sportier trim which is somewhat vulnerable.Yeah sorry for the finger trouble... the Sport SC was disappointing for me as it wasn't off or on road focused and as such didn't seem to work as well as the diesel ones, jumpy off the throttle in traffic but not fast, was strange so bought a new X5 which on road left it for dead if not looking so good.
With prices now I'd go for a full size RR SC if that's what you are after, but try a V8 diesel first and then imagine what it's like with a good chip!

Yeah noticed the full fat RR are around the same price,spoke to she who must be obeyed,but says they are to big.She had a TDI V6 TOUAREG for around 18 months a few years back and struggled with it size.Had that one remapped,astounding the torque increase.
Externally they're nigh-on the same size... Wifey here likewise dismissed the Rangie as too big, until I managed to find the right carpark and park her X5 next to a Toerag, RRS and FFRangie - lo and behold, the square corners make it look bigger, but there's naff all in it. We ended up dismissing the Sport for having useless rear seats and boot, whereas our FFRR can handle anything we throw at it. However, the RRS/FFRR are somewhat bigger than the Toerag, but it's a matter of a few CM.Edited by RedLeicester on Tuesday 5th May 20:40

Wot he said! The proper RR is a squillion times nicer all round (IMO), and actually barely any bigger on the outside as has already been pointed out. More comfortable, quieter, more relaxing, more spacious and the best interior of pretty much any car ever. Just not as good through the twisties, but since when has that been important on a big 4x4 anyway?

I did and ended up buying the big one - the RRS was just too small inside, and dare I say it (I'll duck for cover now) didn't feel as well made. Personally I haven't looked back, but go and see what works for you - that's the only advice I can give.

i was in the same fortunate position recently and had to decide between RR Sport S/C and RR S/C
drove both and went for a 2005 range rover S/C - fast, classy, loads of room for the kids in the back and after a bit of haggling got it for early £20's with 30k on the clock - bargain considering circa £75k new.
I also tried the TDV8 but couldn't justify the extra purchase price outlay to save on fuel bills.
I love it and the wife has not mentioned it being any more difficult to drive than previous X5.
