Good morning all. I have owned my MK1 TD4 Freelander for over 4 years (52 plate) and up until very recently hadn't realised that it was letting in water in the boot.

I only discovered this when I was looking at why the built in satnav wasn't working. So I opened the cubby hole in the boot to find a small lake in the there.

I have now taken the carpet and everything out of the boot to dry it out but cannot see for the life of me where the leak is. I've called my local dealer who said there are known issues with the MK1 Freelander in terms of leaks into the boot, and there are several possibilities. But they won't tell me what they are as they want to charge me labour to tell me (probably) what they already know!

Can anyone here tell me what the most likely common problem is, and who can sell me the parts to rectiify and at what cost? I've heard that there maybe a replacement/remodelled back door sill and that altering the door latch might work.....but wanted to check with you guys and dolls first. Thank you for your time.

Mine has'nt got this leak but my neighbours one had it. Twice.

Change the boot seal and re hang the tailgate worked for them. Luckily the work was done under warrenty and thats been a year now with no repeat of the problem.

Good luck.

There are 3 TSBs for water ingress into the rear of Freelanders according to my RAVE disk, TSB 0014, TSB 0021 and TSB 0085. I have no easy way of saving the PDFs but give me some time and I will find a way to post a link to them for you.

Okay, here is a link so you can download the 3 TSBs in PDF format:
