To cut a long story short I've been loaned a '57 RR Vogue 3.0 Diesel V6 after my BMW330d was written off. I'm so impressed I'm thinking of getting one as a replacement.

I haven't yet had time to read up on what to watch out for etc as I've only had it for a few days but my biggest concern is the MPG as my daily commute equals 15,000 pa. After 200 odd miles I'm averaging a shade over 31 MPG which I think is amazing from such a heavy beast. Sadly, I can only afford an '02/'03 with probably 80k on it. My question is, can I expect the same MPG from the older model? Has the engine spec changed from '02 to '57?

Any other comments about what to look out for/avoid will be gratefully received but I will be doing some research about that ASAP.

Thanks.

A 57 plate should be a TDV8 unless it had been sitting around unregistered for some time.

The difference between the 3.6 twin-turbo V8 TDV8 and the 3.0 turbo I6 TD6 is huge. If you drove a TDV8, you won't want a TD6 because they are rubbish in comparison.
