2002 new shape RR Vogue v 2004 shogun elegance
Discussion
RR's are more than capable of that mileage if looked after properly, but with this mileage start to come some bigger expenses such as suspension and brakes. As long as you sort out a good independant and buy in the best condition you should be OK. The autobox going would be the biggest worry, but on the whole they are a stack better built than the old models.
Never have driven or owned a shogun but known plenty that have, if you want a more reliable workhorse with a bit less kudos and luxury then this is the one to go for. I would say that general running costs would be much cheaper, and TBH that is probably going to be your deciding factor between the 2.

Hi,
That mileage is nothing for a rangie, even the earlier new shapes (l322)
I know a few people that have TD6's on 200k+ and V8's with over 100k.
As was said above, as they start to get older there is the possibility of the air suspension going, as well as the well known diff issues (which are now covered on a land rover national recall)
I really cant see a gearbox going on a sub 100k example, I have never heard of it, and the box is sealed for life - which must say something in my opinion.
In my opinion there is no comparsion in terms of the capability, drive, or luxury when comparing other cars. The l322 offers world class luxury, even in the early form which is why royalty and services use them.
If you want a workhorse, which is admitidly less prone to problems get a shogun, but if you drive a range rover and take a good look around one, I am sure your decsion will be made.
Hope thats helps,
Matt
