TD5 Air suspension
Discussion
I’ve just bought a Discovery TD5 which is fitted with Air Suspension, which occasionally drops on the n/s rear when parked up. This is a random fault which i was aware of before i bought the car.
My intention when buying the car was to convert to coils to fix the immediate problem and avoid any further expanse. However i do intend to use the vehicle for some light off-roading so I’m still tempted to repair the air-suspension.
My question is, if i do fit coils how much is it going to cost me to have the ECU reset and how quickly do i need to get this done? I presume the compressor and ECU will have a fit if i drive around without resetting the ECU. Is this something a specialist can do or do i need to visit a main dealer?
Thanks in advance

You will need two Hd rear coils, spring seats and bolts together with the rubber isolater blocks.
You can then remove all of the pipes and compressor..
You must the find a good indy with an Autologic machine ( or similar) who can reprogramme the suspension system..
I would also suggest you invest in a pair of good gas rear dampers ( I have fitted Bilstein to mine) as the existing ones had a job to cope with the bumps when the air springs were removed.
Pm me if you want the no of a good indy in yr area..

Just to backup your results...
I did the same about 12 months ago, the OS air spring would go down over night in normal ride height. Set it to 'off road' level and it would stay inflated forever. I changed the spring and it has been fine ever since, out of interest I cut up the old spring and inspected the material. It was covered in small internal cracks at the point where the bag folds back on itself at normal ride level, that explained why it didn't leak when the bag was fully inflated in 'off-road' level!
