After a bit of help please.

I purchasd a 2006 model a couple of months ago. Was serviced and MOT'd just before I took ownership, but have the following issues.

1. Driver's door check strap loose (this has happened in the last week). There seems to be a splined bit that need tightening onto the door. Anyone know where I can get such a bit?

2. After I start the car, say 5 seconds later, I get a series of very loud beeps from the o/s boot area. What are these indicating?

3. My seatbelt light comes on when starting up, goes out (the beeps happen shortly afterwards, but not sure if they are related to the warning light), but the light remains off even if I do not have my belt fastened. Has something been de-activated?

4. My tyre pressure monitor does not seem to be working. I have a slow puncture on the n/s front tyre, but the monitor does not pick it up.

Are some of these things related in some way, and by that I mean has the PO pulled a fuse somewhere to disguise the puncture?

Any help most welcome.

Phil.

I have a Nov 2005 S/C and had this also. No one (including a LR expert) seems to know what it is, so I unplugged the 'bleeper' which cured it wink Mines located in the cubby hole on the RHS (O/S) wall of the boot. I too would be interested if anyone knows what it is....

Maybe a faulty rear parking sensor. Had a similar problem with my D3, a wire to the sensor had a tiny split in it.

Could be, but nothing in the manuals.

Bluetooth is working fine. The bit of kit connected to the 'bleeper' looks like an after market fit but this seems unlikely if it has been replicated. I'll post a couple of photos next week for any experts out there.

This would be my suspicion as well.

Have seen a few cars over the past couple of years where faulty/dirty sensors cause random beeping.

Definitely not a sensor in this case - unless the main control unit is beeping to say that a sensor is faulty? They are all working fine BTW.

Has it go a tracker fitted? Mine beeps if I forget the tag, but it's normally after I've moved off.

Aha! I think you are on to something there. It does, but isn't activated any more. I have a part of the unit (transmitter/tag?) in the ashtray.

So it is a series of three or so very loud beeps when you forget your tag?

I get 7 or 8 vary loud beeps but only after a long time or I've driven 100 yards. But that's on a 07 car.

I think that may be the issue with the beeping then - many thanks smile

Check strap - take it to a dealer? Just needs a nip up.

I'm wary about the tyre pressure monitor though. Car has just clicked 19k, so I would guess on it's second set of tyres? I'm also guessing that the sensors were never installed when the tyres were changed?

I'm sure this is linked to the seat belt warning, so mr PO pulled a fuse or something to stop it chiming.

Any ideas, before I dive in?

An update...

The check strap was in fact an 8mm serrated socket - sorted!

The beeping is indeed the control box trying to talk to the tag, which in my case is not activated. Apparently, as long as the tag and control box talk, there is no beeping.

Thanks for that smile

Now onto the tyre pressure monitor and seat belt warning... banghead

The Tyre pressure sensor is a Ford item, and is the inflation valve, so probably cheaper from Ford than your Land Rover dealer At 19K I would hope it's on it's first set of tyres, I've done oer 22K on the originals. The sensor is a very tight fit when the tyre goes on so it may have been damaged during a previous puncture repair.

Have you checked where the 'bleeps' are coming from? Mine was so easy to access (and disable) in the offside boot compartment that it couldn't have been a tracker. Also the 5 bleeps happen before you have moved.
