price of a new XS 90!...advice needed!
Discussion
Dear all,
We are looking at buying a brand new XS Defender 90.
Any advice on price and possible problems/pitfalls and where to purchase a vehicle, for example, I would really appreciate.
We started looking at ex demo and almost new vehicles and came to the conclusion that we would like a new one as they seem to hold their value so well!!
Any advice is good advice!
many thanks,
Leon

My experience is that you don't tend to get much off a new one. I think you have three options.
(1) LR dealers. Pretty good service these days. Might be worth it.
(2) A good independent. Nene Overland or the like. They might have good nearly new ones or be able to get you a new one at a greater discount.
(3) Brokers. Just had a quick look at Broadspeed and they hardly give a discount at all. See http://www.broadspeed.com/new_cars/Land_Rover/Defe...
Buy Land Rover Owner too. It's great for adverts.
Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

You can get a 2009 XS on the Autotrader from low £20's, I looked for a Defender for quite a while (before I went for the 911....) and they do hold value well but, like all cars, lose a significant chunk of change in the first 12 months. It is obvioulsy up to you and if you really want a brand new car, but I would recommend waiting for a private seller and you will not need too much luck to pick up one that's as good as new, and save about 25% on the new price.
