Dear All,

The wife has an 05 RR Vogue and until recently it has been faultless. Of late though when you switch the TV on the picture comes up for about 5 secs before the screen goes blank, you can still hear the sound though. There are no problems with the radio/cd/sat nav.

Any ideas ?

Any help appreciated !

Hi

Its either the obveuose a faulty TV Tuner

Or the CD/DVD nav drive is failing as evrything on a 05 Range runs through the nav

both of these units are prone to fail as they get water in them

The only way really to test without spending ££££££ at Land Rover is to swap units from a similar age vehicle
if you know any one with one

I have done many repairs on this age of vehicle with similar problems if you need any more info please contact me i will be happy to help with direction on removing and replacing these units...

Sounds more like the sensor that detects whether the vehicle is stationary or not - the tuner is working, it's just decided you're driving along so has killed the picture feed???

If that was the case then you would get either a green or blue screen saying tv off for your safety or similar..

News update !!

On the way back from France, just about to get off the car ferry and flat battery !!! I think I must have left the tailgate open and the light drained the battery ? ? (although I would have thought with the battery being the size of a planet it would have taken more to drain it) The battery was dead, anyway a quick jump start from one of the service crew and we were away. The bonus being that the TV works perfectly now ?!?!

Sounds like it just needed a 'hard reboot' then...

You would be amazed how often this works to solve intermittent electrical gremlins wink

LEAVE FOR A FEW MINUTES, TOUCH BOTH TERMINALS TOGETHER (AWAY FROM BATTERY) AND RE-CONNECT. STATIC BUILD UP IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE VEHICLES. HENCE, THE FLAT BATTERY FIXED THE TV PROBLEM.
FURTHER, IF YOU FEEL A VIBRATION WHEN WHEN LABOURINGM IN A HIGH GEAR, DONT LETAVE IT TO DEVELOP, YOU WILL END UP STOPPING IN IN THE MIDDLE LANE, IN A TRAFFIC JAM ON THE M1, THEN WHEN SETTING BACK OFF, IT WILL CHOOSE NOT TO MOVE, MINE DID IT YESTERDAY, WITH A DEFENDER ON THE BACK. 60-70,000 MILES IS USUALLY WHEN THE CLUTCHES GIVE UP IN THE TORQUE CONVERTER. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND ANNOYING, BUT WORSE THAN THAT, BLOODY EMBARRASING!
