Freelander buying advice needed please

I have just spotted a 2005 (54 Reg) freelander for sale locally and if I decide to go and see it I'm hoping to get it for around £3700

It's the 1.8 petrol / 3 door with removeable hard top , 42000 miles , 1 owner

If I'm honest I wouldn't normally even consider a Freelander for myself but the wife likes the look of it and it's going to be her that drives it

I want to know if the 1.8 engine is still prone to HGF at that age or did they have the problem sorted by then ?

Does the 4wd system work OK , I read somewhere that they very rarely engage 4wd even when they should.

Any other pointers would be helpful
