V8 RR SPORT Decision !!!
Discussion
Hi blokes, I cant seem to make my mind up what to buy !! a rr sport v8 diesel or a BMW 335D sport .. not much difference one is lower than the other lol
anyway having owened land rovers and BMW's in the past both gave me good service appart from landrover being very slow ..... my questions are is the big V8 Lump reliable and anyone heard of anything major going wrong or any other things I should know about befor taking the plunge as they are about 10k more for a good secondhand one ?
Thanks for input
Ste .

How much are you looking to spend and how much of a spirited driver are you? A colleague has a RR Sport and its far from sporty! Plus its a Disco in a party frock, if you want a dynamic drive buy the beemer. If you're not bothered about all round drive-ability get the RR Sport, depending on available spend what about an M5? (just a thought).

One word of warning though regarding the RR Sport, its a 2.5 tonne beasty, if the one you're looking at has the 22" rims be VERY VERY careful with potholes and curbs. My colleague has gone through 3 alloys by cracking them when going over potted road surfaces, 35mm section tyre walls provide zero protection to the alloy with that kind of weight baring down on them!!!
Happy hunting
Chris
The TDV8 RRS is no slouch, top speed is limited to 130mph 0-60 is around 7 seconds-ish economy is quite good too 30mpg is easily achievable and it is a good tow car. The DSC (dynamic Stability Control) keeps you out of bother most of the time but can be switched off, you get more body roll but you can pedal it to the limits without it limiting the power so much. It surprises a lot of other cars in how quick it can go but it is no low-slung sports car, it is good for what it is. The standard engine produces 274bhp and 630Nm, there are various tuning companies that offer upgrades to about 330bhp and over 700Nm some will also remove the speed limiter if that is what you desire.
I've done about 35k miles in mine over 2 years and taken the car all over Europe both on road and off road. Things to watch for are the Electronic Parking Brake and some vehicles knock on the Dynamic suspension.
