Hello all,

Thought you might like to see some pics of my Range Rover. It's quite rare - I'm told that only 26 were built as Autobiographys and with the 4.2 engine on the SWB chassis (it's not an LSE).

It has 68k miles with a FSH and I'm loving it (only had it a month). Its air suspension was totally rebuilt by the last owner.

Just bought the last genuine lower tailgate in the country (according to Rimmer Bros anyway) and that's going on in January. Genuine upper tailgate just fitted. I've also just been to Keith Gott to have the minor stuff taken care of so now the cruise control works!

Enjoy!

James

Funny that - I though I bought the last lower Tailgate in the country three years back. It wasn't from Rimmers though so there must be lots of last lower tailgates in the country!!

Lovely car - wish mine was as tidy!

The chap that looks after the paintwork and body on my cars told me that he had Chris Evans' car in. It was bright orange apparently!

NIce piece of kit Sir. If it's not terribly crass could I ask how much you paid for it?

A bit more than £5k and a bit less than £10k. Too much, basically, but probably about what it's worth.

Very, very nice.

I can't stand the new RR's - this era does it for me! (No, I'm not and old fart...yet)

Thank you.

I must say, I'm the same. I did think about buying a second hand 2006-ish Supercharged RR as they are good value at the moment. Yet, there is still so much to go wrong with them and I thought that one of these would be a rakish choice. It'll look like just another old Range Rover to most but from a few people I have got nods, waves and even the odd compliment in a car park. Having had lots of nice cars, I've never had that before!

You're welcome smile

It's just my opinion, but the newer RR (SC especially) seem to attract too many of the ego-driven arrogant, obnoxious, outside lane hogging, tailgating gangsta wannabes for my liking. That, and there is an awful lot to go wrong. They will also depreciate wickedly fast, which isn't necessarily an issue if it's a 'keeper' of course.

I have no doubt that they are good vehicles, however the old skool will always rule supreme in my garage (with the very odd exception!).

Have fun with yours and enjoy the positive attention.

Merry Christmas to all, especially those of the LR fraternity.

Thats lovely and I don't blame you for falling in love with it like you obviously have.

And thats coming from someone who has 'only' owned a Landie, and never a Rangie.

Have fun driving

That is truly a lovely thing.

I took the plunge a month ago, and now have a 93 3.9.

I adore it!!
Much nicer to drive than my last one-p38 t'diesel- more comfy, better ride.
Nothing like the condition yours is in, but only 2 owners and 80k miles on it.

Wouldn't change it for the world.

It most certainly is!

She has had a good clean inside and out, and bar the hazard light switch going, it's all good!

Not the most frugal of vehicles, but I love it to bits- it's a far better drive than I was expecting

Love it!!!

Shame you're so far away - I'm still trying to find someone close who has one. I really like the idea but am afraid I'll hate the drive as it is so far from what I am used to.
Top Gear didn't help - the unreliable RR seemed to manage quite well!

I travel to Andover a fair amount to pick up jnr, more than happy to detour to convenient pub if you would like a drive
